The International Journal of Transportation Science and Technology (IJTST) is soliciting contributions for a focus thematic issue on the subject of Future Road Transportation Technology. This issue is slated for publication in 2016.

Background
As road transportation brings us great life changes, it brings safety and environment problems. Near one millions of people died each year and the constructions consumed un-countable nonrenewable resource. New transportation technology such as connected vehicle, travel demand control, traffic safety control and new pavement material etc. are urgently needed to reduce the negative safety and environmental impacts from transportation and promote the green economy through urban smart growth.

We invite papers worldwide that address these topics. Selected papers will be published in a special issue. This special issue aims at opening the dialogue on such important issues. The purpose of this special issue is to highlight possible approaches to enhance and promote the future transportation technologies.

Potential topics include, but not limited to:
• Connected vehicle/Autonomous vehicle;
• Road Safety;
• ITS;
• Resilience of transportation systems;
• Quiet pavement;
• Permeable pavement for storm water management;
• Cool pavement for heat island mitigation;
